DESMI win Pumping System Packages for New UK Royal Fleet Auxiliary Replenishment Tankers!

Several years of good co-operation with Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) and the Royal Navy have formed the basis of the process of getting the two-digit US$ million contract for pump system packages for the new UK Royal Fleet Auxiliary Replenishment Tankers.

It all started back in 2008. DESMI commenced discussions with the designers for the MARS (code name) Tankers, namely BMT Defence Services, and were asked to put forward their proposals for a suitable ship pump package to an outlined machinery space design.

DESMI were approached by the naval division of Korean Shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) early 2011 to bid for the vessels’ Fuel and Fresh Water Cargo Pumps, later followed by the Engine Room Water Pumps, Emergency Fire Fighting Pumps and Helicopter Fuel Rig Modules.

DESMI have been the supplier for a number of ships for the Royal Navy and have a long-standing experience in supplying for the MOD in the UK. Most notably DESMI have previously delivered the whole pump package for the Queen Elizabeth Air Craft Carrier.

DESMI are pleased to announce that the contracts have now been awarded to DESMI Pumping Technology A/S for all four pump arrangements and systems, resulting in a two-digit US$ million contract.

This prestigious series of contract awards will also extend to Training Programmes, Integrated Logistic, and Through Life Ship Support for the expected life of all four vessels.

DESMI have supplied pump packages for DSME for many years, including the current newbuild programme of ultra-efficient container ships named the Triple E series.
