DESMI are happy to announce the award of a second contract to supply into the Global Combat Ship (GCS) program. This contract includes the delivery of three shipsets of equipment consisting of Wholeship Pumps and Hot Fresh Water Modules into the Hunter Class Frigate Program in Australia.
A long and fruitful collaboration
DESMI has been a part of the GCS program for many years, with the first major step being the contract award for Type 26 Wholeship Pumps integrator back in 2017.
DESMI has been involved with the Hunter Class Frigate Program since 2019, with an initial design study contract. Since then, DESMI and BAE Systems Maritime Australia have worked closely to ensure the right solutions will be delivered to the program, with the first Hunter Class frigate expected to be delivered in 2032.
Long-range Outlook
With construction of the first Hunter Class frigate underway, and the expected delivery of the first ship in 2032, there is plenty of work to be done. “We are extremely proud to be participating in this program and contributing to the future capabilities of the [Royal] Australian Navy,” says Bid Manager, Matias Ingerslev. “This achievement has been a huge team effort, and we can’t wait to get started.”
First major contract for DESMI in Australia
DESMI is a global company represented with subsidiaries and distributors worldwide, and the list of references within the Naval / Defence Industry is long.
However, this is the first major contract in Australia and marks a significant milestone for DESMI, and the ambitions for the future are high. Taking these first steps in Australia will hopefully result in more opportunities for DESMI in the future. Furthermore, DESMI will be engaging and involving Australian industry as part of this contract which is something we hope to expand upon in the coming years.
